The coronavirus does not have an upside. It’s a horrible illness that has turned your world upside down. But daily life must go on, and you still have to deal with personal hygiene issues, including hair care. The quarantine actually offers you an opportunity to improve the look and health of your locks. By the time you are allowed to return to “normal” life, your hair could be at its very best.
Shampooing
If you are currently stuck at home, you can finally try the “no-shampoo” hair care tip. Since you are probably only seeing family members, you can let your hair get good and greasy, relieving your dry hair and scalp. If you cannot stand that thought, minimize shampooing and supplement with a quality dry shampoo. You’ll give your hair a break and allow it to recover from over-washing and other abuses.
Heat Styling
You can also swear off blow drying and heated styling tools. You know that these items are hard on your hair, leading to dryness, split ends and broken strands. When you do wash your hair, let it dry naturally and wear it in its natural state. Will you look your best? Probably not, but your family won’t care. Have to take a video call? Pop on a hat or scarf and carry on.
Hair Coloring
Many men and women count on regularly coloring their hair. Some go to the salon for this treatment, something most Americans are not currently allowed to do. Others color their own hair, but buying the necessary items is becoming more difficult. Recently, there has been a run on these products by people who are shopping at large box stores or their neighborhood groceries. You may be able to buy online, but retailers might not have your products in stock or be unable to deliver them for weeks.
If you’ve ever thought about returning to your natural color, now is the time. You can do so without worrying about exposing those dark or gray roots to the world. Plus, your hair will benefit from the chemical hiatus.
Try to use this time to renew your hair. Isolation does have some benefits. You can go natural without facing your friends and neighbors.
