Summer is a fun time, but it’s also the time of the year when you can experience more hair frizz problems due to the humidity! Here are some ways to tame that frizzy hair this summer and keep your hair lush and moisturized:
- Use a shampoo that is sulfate-free, glycerin-packed.
Why? Glycerin is a great ingredient for helping to hydrate your hair with a protective coating. You can protect it with these specialty shampoos, and then you can ensure it stays extra moisturized by using a good conditioner with shea butter preferably, every time you wash it.
- Don’t wet your hair too much with saltwater
Salt water has a tendency to frizz your hair up once the water has evaporated and the salt has a tangly, drying effect. If you are hitting the beach, it’s completely okay to not get your whole head and scalp wet. Another tip is using coconut oil as a moisturizer, and to keep your locks smoother with those frizzy flyaways tamed!
- Twice a week, try using only conditioner on your hair.
Washing your hair can actually strip it of essential oils. To prevent dryness and frizzy hair in the summer, you can try one week where you simply condition instead of applying shampoo. You can also use conditioning oil spray when fixing your hair styles or hair replacements.
- Use weekly hydrating mask treatments.
Styling your hair during the humid summer doesn’t have to be a chore! One great thing is that you can often air dry your hair in the heat, without having damage caused by the heat in blow dryers. If you can get to a salon for a hair spa, it’s good to do once a week. If you opt for DIY home spa treatments, look for hydrating masks that have coconut oil or castor oil as the main ingredients. There are plenty of DIY masks you can make yourself at home to save time and budget!
